This page contains information for oral presentations and poster presentations. Be sure to review the ASBMB photography and recording policy and download the icons applicable to your presentation.

Oral presentation information

Oral talk presenters are required to:

  • Register to attend the conference.
  • Give talk in person at the assigned date, time and location.

Presentation guidelines

  • All presenters should use PowerPoint to create your presentation (.pptx format).
  • Widescreen projectors will be used in all meeting rooms. PowerPoints should be formatted in 16:9 aspect ratio.
  • For presentations created on an Apple computer, please be aware of the following:
    • Videos: QuickTime formats such as .mov are not native to Windows computers. Please convert videos to .mp4.
    • Animations: Use simple entry animation effects such as: fly in/out, appear, and dissolve.
    • Fonts: Use common fonts. Pre-installed and custom fonts will not translate properly on a Windows machine.
    • Keynote: If creating your presentation in Keynote, please Export as .pptx.

All speakers are required to check-in at the Speaker Ready Room

  • ALL speakers are REQUIRED to bring their presentation to the Speaker Ready Room, at least four hours before their session. Your presentation file must be on a USB flash drive and include all files for videos and images.
  • AV technicians will assist in uploading your presentation to a central server that connects to the session rooms. When you arrive in your session room, your slides will be waiting for you on the PC laptop.
  • AV technicians WILL NOT BE waiting in the session rooms to upload presentations at the start of the sessions. This must be done in the Speaker Ready Room at least four hours before your session.
  • Presenter View is available. This will allow your view on the laptop to show the current slide, your upcoming slide and the notes. Speak with AV staff in the Speaker Ready Room if you would like to use Presenter View.

Session rooms

  • Session rooms will have standard AV equipment including a data projector, PC laptop, programmable timer, laser pointer/slide advancer, and podium microphone. 
  • Each meeting room will use widescreen projectors connected to the podium laptop at a resolution of 1920 x 1080. The podium PC laptop computer will run Windows 10 with Office 2019.
  • At the time of presentation, your slides will be accessed via the on-screen menu on the session room laptop. Once the presentation is launched, you will control the presentation from the podium using the laptop’s arrow keys and track pad. Wireless advancers will also be provided.
  • Internet access is not available in the session rooms.

Hours of Operation:
  • Saturday: 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Sunday: 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Monday: 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 7:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Poster presentation information

Poster presentations provide an opportunity for the interchange of ideas between presenters and attendees interested in their research. Posters should be outlined so the research can be understood without an oral explanation as a poster may also be viewed when the author is not present.

Poster presenters are required to:

  • Register to attend the conference.
  • Present poster in person at the assigned date, time and location.

Poster board dimensions

Each poster board surface area of 4 ft. x 8 ft. will display two posters. Your poster should be no larger than 44” high x 44” wide.

Setup

Posters will be presented in the exhibit hall. Poster boards will be numbered sequentially. Locate your assigned poster board and mount your poster between 7:30–9:30 a.m. on the day of your presentation. Pushpins will be provided in the poster area.

Your poster should be displayed on the day of your assigned presentation only. A poster that is displayed on the wrong day will be removed.

Session

You must be at your poster during your assigned presentation time to discuss research with interested individuals. Please refer to the schedule below.

Take-down

You must remove your poster at the end of the session. Any materials left on the poster board at the end of the session will be discarded. The ASBMB will not be responsible for any poster material left behind at the end of each session.
