Location information

Where is #DiscoverBMB located?

#DiscoverBMB is located at the Henry B. González Convention Center, 900 E Market Street, San Antonio, TX 78205.

What time zone is the meeting set to?

DiscoverBMB will take place in Central Daylight Time (CDT).

What is the weather like in San Antonio?

Program and mobile app

Is the program schedule available online?

The program schedule is available online. The full program schedule including session locations and abstracts will be available on the DiscoverBMB mobile app in mid-March. The mobile app can be downloaded through the app store on both Apple and Android devices, just search for “DiscoverBMB2024.”

Registration and badges

Are lodging and meals included with registration?

Lodging and meals are not included with registration. To book your hotel, visit the DiscoverBMB housing site.

If I paid the abstract fee do I still need to register for the meeting?

Yes, the abstract fee does not cover your registration. You must register separately for the meeting.

Do I need to be a member to attend?

No, but the registration fees are reduced for ASBMB members.

Can I register onsite and what payment options are accepted?

Yes, you may register onsite. Payments can only be made via credit card onsite.

Where and when can I pick up my badge once onsite in San Antonio?

The registration desk will be located in the Parkview Lobby on level 2 of the Henry B. González Convention Center. See registration hours. Badges are required to access the session rooms and the exhibit hall.

What do I do if I lose my badge?

Registered attendees can visit the registration desk for a replacement badge. Please note that there is a charge of $20 for badge replacement.

Are daily guest passes offered?

Guest badges are intended for use by a spouse, family member or significant other accompanying a paid registrant. The cost of the guest badge is $175 per day.

If you would like someone to attend your session, they must register for the guest badge ($175 per day). The guest must be present with the paid registrant at the registration desk and agree to abide by ASBMB policies to obtain a badge. Guest badges are not replaceable if lost. Children under 16 years of age are not permitted in the exhibit hall or sessions and are not eligible for a guest badge.

I can no longer attend DiscoverBMB how can I cancel my registration?

Please refer to our cancellation policy.

I can no longer present my talk/poster who do I contact?

Please contact meetings@asbmb.org. If onsite, please visit the registration desk.

Transportation and housing

Will transportation be provided?

No. Individuals are responsible for their own transportation to/from the meeting.

I’m driving to attend DiscoverBMB, where should I park?

The convention center’s parking garage is located across the street from the main entrance at 850 E. Commerce Street. Clearance is 6’8” and the garage is open 24 hours. Additional parking options and rates can be found here. Please check with your hotel for its parking policies and rates.

How do I book my hotel stay?

To reserve a hotel room, please visit the DiscoverBMB housing site.

Nursing and minors

Are children allowed in the exhibit hall?

Children under 16 years of age are not permitted in the exhibit hall or sessions.

Will childcare be available onsite in San Antonio?

No. Individuals are responsible for setting up childcare during the meeting dates.

Is there a private area for nursing/pumping?

Yes. There are two nursing pods in the convention center that attendees may use: Room 1212 (located in the lobby corridor between Halls 3 & 4) and Room 2137 (next to Room 215).

Is there a quiet/prayer room available?

Yes. The room location will be communicated onsite.

Presenter information

I’m presenting a poster, what are the poster dimensions?

Your poster must not exceed 44 in x 44 in (111 cm x 111 cm).

I am a speaker/award lecturer. Where do I go to get ready for my talk?

The speaker ready room is located in room 211 on level 2 of the Henry B. González Convention Center. Details on how to use the room and operational hours are available here.

Code of Conduct and Policies

What is the code of conduct?

Am I permitted to take photographs/videos of talks or poster presentations?

Please refer to our photography and recording policy.

What is the health and safety policy?

COVID-19 vaccines and boosters are recommended for anyone attending the meeting. Mask-wearing and other requirements will be based on the local and state guidelines and will be communicated with attendees before the start of the event. See full health and safety policy.

Where can I get my certificate of attendance?

You can log in to your ASBMB account (the same account you usedto register for the meeting) to obtain your certificate of participation beginning in early April.
