Welcome reception

Celebrate the opening of #DiscoverBMB, catch up with old friends and make new ones. Sponsored by the ASBMB Maximizing Access Committee, the reception will showcase the work being done by the winners of the committee’s Graduate Student Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award.

Talk with presenters whose work intersects with or complements yours all while enjoying a refreshing beverage. Tuesday's reception will be an ice cream social.

Meetups

Get together with people who have research interests and passions similar to yours during themed meetups. Discuss the day's sessions, find out more about the ASBMB's programs and meet the ASBMB Fellows. Learn more

Women scientists networking event

Sunday, March 26, 6:30–8:30 p.m.

The Women in BMB Committee host their annual Women’s Networking Dinner with a panel of women scientific professionals. Seating is first-come, first-served, and is limited to 250.

Wellness walk

Monday, March 27, 12:30–1:30 p.m.

The Women in BMB Committee host their second wellness walk for annual meeting attendees to enjoy the fresh air and connect with other members of the ASBMB community. Let’s explore Seattle together! Meet on level 1 of the Seattle Convention Center near the Visit Seattle desk at 12:30 p.m. and we will walk for about an hour. Rain or shine, so dress appropriately.

Reception at the Seattle Aquarium

Tuesday, March 28, 7–9:30 p.m.

Join your friends and colleagues for a fun-filled night at the Seattle Aquarium. The reception includes access to all exhibits and the Life on the Edge exhibit room. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

The Seattle Aquarium is one of the most unique facilities in the Seattle area and a wonderful waterfront treasure. Aquarium docents will be on hand to answer questions about the animals and their habitats. With the grandeur of the 20 x 40-foot Window on Washington Waters as your backdrop, the evening at the Seattle Aquarium will be a wonderful experience. And best of all, the proceeds from the event contribute directly to the aquarium’s mission of inspiring conservation of the marine environment.

Getting there

Transportation will not be provided. The Seattle Aquarium is a 12 minute walk or a short drive from the Seattle Convention Center and the official #DiscoverBMB hotels.

Networking opportunities

All attendees are encouraged to attend the welcome reception to celebrate the opening of #DiscoverBMB. It will be a great time to catch up with old friends and make new ones. In addition, we will showcase the work being done by the winners of the Graduate Student Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Travel Award.

Meetups provide a casual atmosphere for open discussion and networking around a topic or interest area. They are an opportunity to make new connections during the meeting and help foster impactful collaborations and close-knit, supportive communities.

Women's networking dinner — Community building: Networking strategies for scientists

Sunday, 6:45–9 p.m.

The Women in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Committee proudly presents their annual women’s networking dinner, a unique event that brings together scientific professionals for an evening of discussions, shared experiences and valuable connections. The emphasis of this year's event will be on the importance of community building in the context of mentoring and networking. The event offers participants the chance not only to interact with a distinguished panel of women professionals but also to cultivate meaningful connections with fellow attendees.

Due to the interactive nature of the event and our commitment to providing a conducive environment for mentoring and networking, advance registration is required. Space is limited, so we encourage you to register early to secure your spot.

Wellness walk

Join us for a Wellness Walk hosted by the ASBMB Women in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Committee. This scenic stroll along the beautiful River Walk promises to be an energizing break from your conference schedule, fostering connections and promoting personal well-being.
